Fry Babies

Hey freakin' vegans! Today, I’m coming at you with one of my favorite new recipes: Fry Babies !

I came across this recipe originally meant for oyster mushrooms, all I had was Bella’s when I saw it and these Fry Babies were born! They just remind me of a catfish nugget, especially with a little Frank’s Red Hot on the side!

Not only are they a great midday snack, but they're also really good on a wrap with some pesto, tomato, avocado & some micro greens! They also make a great on-the-spot dish for company, potlucks, etc. I call this a "fridge-friendly" recipe because it works with whatever type of mushrooms you have on hand! My personal favorites for this dish are baby bellas and standard portobellos. *Fun Foodie Fact: Baby bellas are originally known as Italian portobellos and also go by the names: portobellas and creminis (great to keep in mind on your trips to the farmer's market)!* Along with being fridge-friendly, this recipe is also great to prep in advance in case you need a quick, delicious bite after a long day! Now, onto the practical detes: Your Shopping List (1) Package of mushrooms (1) Bottle Hot sauce (1/4 Tsp) Liquid Aminos (1 Tsp) Onion powder (1 Tsp) Old Bay (1 TBsp) Garlic powder (1/2 cup) Flour (3/4 cup) Water (1cup) Olive oil (1 1/2cup) Bread crumbs (fine) How To!  1. Cut your 'shrooms into 1/4-inch-thick slices

2. Pour Liquid Aminos on 'shrooms and set aside 3. Using spoon combine flour and seasonings 4. Add water to flour-seasoning blend and stir well (the mixture should have the consistency of pancake batter)

6. Place your olive oil on medium-high heat. For those using an air fryer, set it to 375°. 7. Coat one 'shroom at a time with the flour mixture, followed by an even coating of bread crumbs. Set the coated 'shrooms aside. 8. Now it's time to do your best fry cook impression and drop those battered and breaded babies in your oil or air fryer!  9. For air frying, cook for 8 minutes, flipping them half way through. When deep frying, fry for about two minutes on each side ( or until golden brown) Note: When deep-frying, be sure to drain 'shrooms on a paper towel before serving.  10. Served immediately with your favorite dipping sauce! I use Hot sauce and it’s always delicious!
